Believe it or not, the time will come…
the realization will dawn…
your heart will rest
Because for the first time in a long time,
perhaps the first time ever,
you will know that your waiting is done.
But there you will discover another kind of waiting –
one of attending…
loving focus…
adoring and serving.
And then more than ever, it will be worth the wait.
If seeing is believing, then once you see
you will taste the sweet satisfaction
of a dream realized.
But oh how much more precious
the waiting hours will be
if believing comes first.
There in the hope deferred your heart will learn
to hold on to the faithfulness
of the One making the promise.
And then more than ever, it will be worth the wait.
When waiting wears the forlorn feel of forever,
then the joy that’s set before you
can still win the day.
But it takes a forever kind of love –
bathed in grace for each moment –
to see past the crosses and shame.
There as you run with endurance and courage
the grimace of striving gives way
to the sweet, sweet glory of the prize.
And then more than ever, it will be worth the wait.
Hesitation in search of the perfect moment
will give way to action
when love surpasses your fears.
But there in the daring and risk you discover
the nature of love at its finest –
not feeling, but choosing… giving.
There as you let go of fear in the name of love
then regardless of the outcome
you are more alive than ever.
And then more than ever, it will be worth the wait.
Soon enough the sun will rise and overtake
the lonely, still, quiet darkness
of your night seasons.
But then… maybe only then… you will realize
you always had faithful Friend
who sticks closer than a brother.
There as you hold fast to His faithfulness
your strength comes alive again
to rise up with wings like the eagle.
And then more than ever, it will be worth the wait.
Languishing in the heat of a thousand summers,
the world you see will give way
to the new earth you long for.
But until then we wait in the place
where Mercy kisses Patience…
where Kindness carries the weak.
There as you draw on your last burst of power
you will run with great, great joy
straight into His waiting arms.
And then more than ever, it will be worth the wait.
Indeed, it is worth the wait! Blessings for a Happy New Year, Andy!
