…for we walk by faith, not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7).
You and I are flex-fueled vehicles.
We are equipped to move forward,
powered either by confidence in the living God
or by what makes sense to us logically, emotionally, or sensually at the time.
There is a difference… A massive difference.
What’s in your tank?
Here’s how you can know…
When I walk by faith,
my forward motion is determined by what I sense God is saying
and how I am to respond in trust and obedience to Him.
When I walk by sight,
my forward motion is not always forward!
It sometimes chases windmills
or stands still and paralyzed.
When I walk by faith,
my determination is fueled by the calling and power of God.
He is my source of courage and strength.
When I walk by sight,
my determination is moody
and dependent on the circumstances
as I can process them.
When I walk by faith,
my measured gait is sensitive to God’s timing –
sometimes willing to wait,
sometimes ready to take bold action,
sometimes simply “walking it out.”
But the key is always to respond to His leading.
When I walk by sight,
I easily outrun my strength
or get sidetracked.
Or I get lazy and go nowhere.
When I walk by faith,
my life is purposeful –
always pursuing the high call of God in Christ Jesus,
confident in His intention to finish what He started
and empower what He calls.
When I walk by sight,
my life is random at best,
or driven by pleasure, materialism or pride at worst.
So what determines the fuel?
Your glance and your gaze.
Walking by faith doesn’t mean you’re walking blindly.
Walking by sight doesn’t mean you never believe.
When you walk by faith
your gaze is on the Lord and your glance on the world around you.
When you walk by sight
your gaze is on the circumstances and your glance is on the Lord.
Set your gaze, friends.
It matters.
Setting my gaze smack-dab on the Lord!
Blessings, Andy!
