Lighthouse 3

A lighthouse in a harbor stands on solid ground,
Declaring simple truth to all who would see.
“Here I stand,” it calls to the ocean.
“No wave formed against me will ever prosper
I bow at the mercy of no storm or sea.”
On a firm foundation the Lighthouse in the Harbor
Refuses to surrender, sound the retreat or compromise.
It stands in simple splendor, against the tide.
Though it may show signs of wear and aging,
Though it may look unimpressive to untrained eyes,
The Lighthouse in the Harbor yet still stands upon a rock –
And you… yes, you… are that Lighthouse in the Harbor.

A lighthouse in a harbor shines a steadfast light,
In storms or fogbound nights to all who would see.
“Be forewarned,” it calls to the captain.
“The sea that now carries you can quickly toss you
Or break you on rocks or unforgiving shores.”
In the blackest of night skies the Lighthouse in the Harbor
Refuses to grow dimmer, hide under baskets, or leave the hill.
It stands in piercing brilliance against the dark.
Though it may appear to annoy the neighbors,
Though it may seem irrelevant to landlubbers’ eyes,
The Lighthouse in the Harbor yet still penetrates the darkness –
And you… yes, you… are that Lighthouse in the Harbor.

A lighthouse in a harbor points a hopeful beam
To sinking souls who desperately need to see.
“Here is hope,” it calls to the stranded.
“A safe place of refuge is here waiting for you…
And I’ll light the way ‘til you find your way home.”
In the dimmest of lost hopes the Lighthouse in the Harbor
Refuses to abandon, cut its losses, or concede.
It stands in faithful radiance against despair.
Though it may look helpless or weak to cynical eyes,
The Lighthouse in the Harbor yet still points the lost toward home –
And you… yes, you… are that Lighthouse in the Harbor.

Oh, Andy, this was simply amazing! We can’t be reminded enough that we are to shine the light of Christ into a dark and hurting world. Thank you for this, my friend!
