My One More Chance

in Esteem, Life Currency

The years so many and memories still real
Point to chances and dances with life-setting choices.
And oh, how my heart could believe in illusions
And stubbornly choke on the mirrors and smoke
Of promises from a deceiver,
Whose only aim was to take and shame –
Never to give or forgive
Or redeem or fulfill a single dream
Like those I found in You,
My One More Chance.

What could I offer to You in return
For the touch of Your grace and the things I have learned?
I will offer the first of my heart to the dance
Of worship to You, My One More Chance.

The years, still so many and memories more blessed
Point to wrong turns and long yearns for something new
And faithful and true – for the change only made
From the inside out. That’s what You’re about!
Making promises to a believer –
So patient to wait for my heart to receive
To stop wasting my life
And start tasting the love
That I only could find in You,
My One More Chance.

What could I offer to You in return
For the touch of Your grace and the things I have learned?
I will offer the best of my heart to the dance
Of worship to You, My One More Chance.

The years, though unknown lie before me in hope
As You’re holding and molding my life in Your image.
And oh, how my heart has been changed by Your goodness!
I’m beautifully graced by the life-giving taste
Of the love I can give as believer.
No other friend offers love that’s so endless
So new every morning
And true to hold on to
What I have entrusted to You,
My One More Chance.

What could I offer to You in return
For the touch of Your grace and the things I have learned?
I will offer the whole of my heart to the dance
Of worship to You, My One More Chance.

“My One More Chance . . .” Oh, how He found me, lost and wandering, many years ago and offered the chance to me. I don’t know where I would be today without the Lord.
This is a beautifully crafted and heartfelt poem, Andy. It truly touched my heart today.
Blessings!
